The head coaches of the men's and women's Korean national volleyball teams

The Korean women's volleyball team is at the starting line for the re-enactment of glory with the new foreign head coach.

The coaches of the Korean men's and women's volleyball teams, who were appointed last month, held a joint press conference at the Olympic Parktel in Songpa-gu, Seoul on Saturday. "I know how much Korean women's volleyball has taken up in the world. I will try to return to the position where the women's team performed well in the past," said Fernando Morales, the coach of the Puerto Rican national team. "I applied because of the long history and culture of Korean women's volleyball. I think I will be able to return to such an honored position. I only need the passion of players," he said.

The women's volleyball team made it to the semi-finals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which was held in 2021. However, when they retired after the Olympics, their successor, coach César González, failed to change generations.  메이저사이트

"It's hard to say that there's only one problem," Morales said of the national team, which has been losing consecutive international competitions for a long time. "It's clear that there are tactical and strategic complementary points." "It's an open fact that the golden generation of Korean women's volleyball including Kim Yeon-kyung failed to do so," Morales said, pointing out that a transition period is necessary for a generational change. "Now we're in the third season generation change, and this time we're ready to endure the transition period and complete the generational change. It's possible if we fill the void of star players with team play," Morales said.

Coach Morales took charge of Puerto Rico, which failed to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and showed his leadership by raising the weakened team to 16th place in the world rankings.

Morales, who has been gathering his players at Jincheon Gymnasium since last week, said, "We have seen certain improvements. It is also important to maintain good relations with V-League clubs outside of volleyball. We need to cooperate with each other. If we want to get good results in a high-level international competition like the Volleyball Nations League VNL, we need to maintain good relations with the club and select outstanding players."

The Korean women's volleyball team will tour Rio de Janeiro May 14-19, Arlington, Texas May 28 - June 2 and Fukuoka June 11 - 16 in Japan for qualifying for the Volleyball Nations League VNL. The Korean women's volleyball team has failed to earn any points in the VNL for two consecutive seasons, and is now losing 27 consecutive games. "My goal is to increase the world ranking, which remains in the top 40 for now," Morales said. "I want to create a good atmosphere outside of volleyball. I want to create a national team that I want to join."
